Hello LR-friends

Writing to you from a winter cold Sweden. Perhaps I will go to South America just after christmus to visit friends in Asuncion, Paraguay and I got an idea that I'd like to drive there from Buenos Aires or Sao Paulo in an old Land Rover.

Got a 88" LR from -67 at home with an entire bare and polished alu-body. The car I'd like to buy must be very cheap but funktional (yes I know a few things aboute Land Rovers:-)..)

Anyone that knows of any old LR for sale? What is a fair price? And so on...

Second, there isn!t much old land rover for sale
I think you could to rent a car for the travel, is more easy than try to buy a old land rover

Spanish... well, there isn't much time left..

And, buying an old LR is just an idea for fun. I mean, there is always other ways of travel, but as beeng an old landrover-freak one must try...

So if you or anybody else know of some old, rolling aluminium-can that at least will last a couple of thousend km, then please... or maybe you know of someone to ask in Argentina or Brazil.

first of all it depends on how much you are willing to spend in a LR, and how much you expect to lose when selling out. There should be a few ads at www.thespecialist.com.br -> Classificados. FX is close to 1 USD = 2.8 BRL. Maybe you'd like to talk to the shop's owner(they sometimes have a LR for sale, or they know of a customer willing to sell): luiz@thespecialist.com.br.

good luck. btw, where are you from? I spent several weeks in Malmo once. Also was to Lappland for trekking.

First, I'm no rich man.. so I'm looking for a veeeery.. used car. A car one can buy and give away .. you can find them here in Scandinavia so I suppose it must be possible to find one in South America too. I checked out your link and found their used cars way to expensive. As I wrote before: It's only for fun, I will stay for a month.

Nice to hear that you have visited Sweden. I live in Sundsvall, it's by the coast about 1000 km north of Malmo. I'm an surveying engineer and my main interest is fishing and outdoor life so I have much use of my Land Rover. As you have visited Lappland you know what I mean.

Been active in LR-clubs for years and a couple of years ago I used to report from Scandinavia in my monthly column in Land Rover Owner International. Have you seen that magazine?

hi wilks, I am from la paz bolivia,and I know of a LR serie II, price $us 4000,00, but I think that the real price is $us 3200 - 3500.
This old car is made in England,´72.

Hello Bolivia!

Do you know there is a "Bolivian club" in Uppsala, Sweden? Used to go there with my ex-girlfriend who is born in Chile. Lot's of nice people from all over South America there. The young ones used to practise ancient dances from Bolivia to modern drum'n base music wearing fantastic costumes.

However.. I am going to Paraguay and I think I will be flying to one of the big cities by the east coast, propably Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires. So.. La Paz is a little offside I think, if I got my geografic right?

But.. price of Land Rovers are sinking. Good. Can anyone take it closer to "free of charge"?...

And.. how aboute Uruguay, is there any Land Rover club there?

You know, I am very curious about your part of the world, and happy aboute your response in this forum.

And.. Lo siento, me no hablo espanol muy bueno....? Is that right?....

we have in Santiago ,a few series (II and III) english series,and spanish series,a friend of mine is selling a 1961 serie II, fully restored (fairey overdrive,a new capstan winch,etc etc),but the price is too much for your pocket ,i think (about 9000 usd) ,but you can find a functional serie II or III for about 1000 or 2000 usd ,i have seen more cheap, 500 usd for a 1960 serie II ,the first thing you have to do ,is put all the papers of the vehicle OK,registers and all of that ,some burocratic bullsh....... but ,if you dont have papers ,you can´t make your overland trip
some of the series seems in pretty bad shape ,outside (mechanically in good shape),because many of this cars was used in the military forces,and when they came to the civilian life,they have to be painted,and in most of the cases.......the paint is with brush
